Our Mission

The Dirt Conservancy is a nonprofit organization restoring Western Pennsylvania’s forgotten lands.

We focus on rewilding post-industrial and underused land—turning neglected areas into public outdoor spaces that support healthy ecosystems, active recreation, and community renewal.

Our mission is simple: bring land back to life, and connect people to it.

Our Approach

We blend environmental restoration with purpose-built trail design.

By healing soil, re-establishing native habitat, and creating sustainable access through mountain biking and multi-use trails, we turn degraded sites into thriving public assets.

Our work is modeled after successful community-driven programs like the Evergreen MTB Alliance—combining ecological science, recreation planning, and local partnerships to achieve lasting stewardship.
